IBM plans to protect customers' investments in IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) and predecessor products (IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) Standard, Advanced or Server), and does not expect current customers to migrate immediately from currently entitled products to the most recent BPM & BAW offerings.
To facilitate the move to the newer versions of our products (and to avoid "double payment" during that migration period), IBM is offering customers complimentary "dual entitlement" to the latest version/release of the IBM BPM or BAW programs to migrate from an earlier version/release for a period of up to 18 months.
A list of eligible products and their equivalent entitlement products under the dual entitlement program are defined in the Entitlement Mappings sections below.
Note such waiver is less needed now that moving to the latest is an in-place upgrade from BPM 8.5.x and on; also those coming from Case Foundation/Manager with user-based licensing typically do not need it neither as the users will typically be the same using the legacy & latest version and a given user can connect to as many environments as needed (prod/non-prod, legacy/latest).
How to Request Dual Entitlement
Customers with an active subscription to the eligible products (see Entitlement Mappings section below) can request temporary "dual entitlement" to the newly entitled products. IBM will grant at no charge, temporary Program use and Software Subscription and Support (S&S) rights up to the number of current license and Software S&S entitlements currently in place (see Entitlement Mappings for eligible products), as well as an equal number of migrated licenses and Software S&S entitlements, for the new version and release (e.g., migrating from IBM Business Process Manager Standard V8.6 to IBM Business Automation Workflow 18.0 would be entitled to use both versions for the migration period up to 18 consecutive months). The temporary use and Software S&S rights are solely for the use of both Programs during migration for the same workload. A migration plan must be in place prior to final approval and any new workload not covered with current entitlements will require purchasing additional licenses.
The request must be made through your IBM Could or Digital Business Automation (DBA) sales and S&S renewal representatives. Once the request is reviewed, signed and submitted, the "dual entitlement" waiver will be processed as quickly as possible.
Note: this process does not affect the support life-cycle of the program which remains applicable based on the version being run and for which technical support may be needed. For such details on BAW go here.
